Fabulous Baja Soiree

Am I going to a fabulous dinner party in California?
Nope, it would be more than an evening if I were going to Cali, as it is a couple states away, hee hee. ;-)

I'm pretty excited to show you today's project. For ONE thing, it counts towards TWO challenges!!
1 - The WT (Ways to Use It) challenge was to use twine.
2 - This week's sketch challenge

For ANOTHER, I used some fun things I haven't used much/shown you yet!

A bit of an explanation on the title:
Fabulous - used the stamp set Fast & Fabulous (you can earn it free as a Hostess!)
Baja - one of the main colors I used (Baja Breeze)
Soiree - name of the DP I used (Elegant Soiree)

Okay, I know you're dyin' to see what I came up with.  Personally, I think it looks better IRL...and I love how it could be used for many different occasions. :)

Here's the sketch I followed:

I originally didn't have the kraft layer all around the white base, and then the layers looked more true to sketch, but the kraft matting around the main image stood out too much, so I added the other...I guess I have quite a few layers on here, but at least it follows the sketch! lol

Well, what do you think?

The Small Print (All Stampin' Up)
Stamps: Fast & Fabulous
Ink: Stazon Brown, Baja Breeze, Pear Pizzaz
Paper: Elegant Soiree
Cardstock: Baja Breeze, Kraft, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Aquapainter, Chantilly lace, Linen thread, Dimensionals

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a GREAT day! :)

A Challenge

In more than one way! lol

This week has been a challenge - lots going on, and more to come!

Stamping this week has been a challenge.
I made a card that just did NOT turn out right. I *might* show you someday. ;-)

I decided to participate in a stamping-related challenge at SCS, hoping to aid my efforts.  It was a sketch challenge, which doesn't always work for me. ;-b

Thankfully, I knew what stamp I wanted to use on this card for Grandma's Birthday (other grandma).

Here's the sketch:

And here's what I did with it:

She's always helping us out with our yards, loves flowers, and a ton of other plants in God's creation (well, except for weeds - wink).

I stamped the flower from "Friends 24-7" onto Very Vanilla, then colored in with my aquapainter and ink pad lids. :) The flowered paper is from the same pack I used on my other grandma's card (Parisian Breeze).

Well, what do you think?  I'd love to hear/read! :)

The Small Print (All Stampin' Up)
Stamps: Friends 24-7
Cardstock/Paper: Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla
Ink: Basic Brown
Accessories: Kraft taffeta ribbon, Aquapainters, SU ink lids (Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi), Dimensionals

Pear Pizzaz!

No, my card doesn't have pears stamped with pizzaz...so sorry to disappoint. ;-)  It's made with oodles of my favorite NEW In Color, and I'm lovin' it! :)

Yup. Pear Pizzaz. How did you guess? ;-)
Take a gander...

(sigh)...love it. I'm such a monochromatic gal. Some people would call that boring, I suppose. I call it...calming, lol! :)

I got the sketch idea over at clean&simple, where they're celebrating their 100th layout!

I'm excited about this one...fun to play with new stuff. :)  Pear Pizzaz ribbon, cardstock, and marker (I want my ink pad! lol) to color the stamps...from the new set "Just Believe." Sorry it's not the best picture quality...looks great IRL! :)

Well, what do you think?

The Small Print (All Stampin' Up)

You've Got to Move It, Move It!

It's been a long time, hasn't it?  I'm so sorry about that. :(

Between a camping trip, preparing for said trip, and all the work that comes AFTER said trip...there's not a lot of free time. :)  I completely lost my mojo, on top of that. Not to worry...after taking some time yesterday to enjoy creating again...I've got lots of ideas! :)  Also, I did do a little stamping here and there as needed in that time (birthdays, etc), so I'll share with you those things as well. :)

OK!  On with the show! :)

Yesterday, I was perusing SCS and came across a challenge that inspired me.  It was called "Let's Move It!"  Find ways to make your design move.  Wellllll...I didn't have to think long. Knew exactly what I wanted to do, & which stamp I wanted to use.  I got a little stuck on layout for a bit, but then found a great one here on clean & simple blog: FTL99.  A little messing with color, but then I was set!  :)

It's a spinner card, meaning an item moves and spins!
Are you ready to see it? I'm sure you are.  I've kept you waiting, like 2 weeks. ;-)

I know, that weird track thing is a little distracting, isn't it?  Sigh...it totally distracts me.  I'm going to make a super-cute card without the track.  But I was on a mission, and I was GOING to make it work, lol! :)  You've never been like that, have you? ;-)

I'm sure you want to see it in action.  Well, I've got a couple of shots to show you, and you'll have to imagine the rest. ;-)

Hee hee hee...it was fun, even if the track is distracting.  My girls love it. :)

Well, what do you think?

I'm curious to know if there are people out there still reading this blog!  This is my first Summer of blogging...I'm finding out it's definitely not as easy as during the school-year! :)

A Sweet Celebration

OK, I'll admit it.  I was so determined to make a card today, I got 1/2 my housework done, then took a little break to create.  Let the laundry sit for a bit! ;-)

I had two crafting goals today:
1) Use new "Sweet Scoops" stamp set (Summer Mini).
2) Participate in a challenge at SCS.

I'm here to inform you...I DID IT and I'm so excited about it!!! :)  Small victories are big ones here. ;-)

It has been WAY too long since I've done a challenge...and of course I chose today's challenge to return to challenges, lol!  Take a look at this doozy of a sketch! lol

As someone who lately tends towards clean & simple, it was hard for me to add all those layers (each had specific measurements, too)!  PLUS, I'm a little OCD when it comes to straight lines. Skew the image THAT much?  lol

I am sooo glad I did it.  What I appreciate about stamping challenges is that they CHALLENGE me to think outside the box & feel more creative, too! lol

Bright colors are usually not my thing, but it totally works with this! :)  I used shading on the scoop of sherbet, with a touch of glitter on the edge. LOVE it! :)  I also stamped the apricot layer with the "sprinkles" from the set....and each colored layer is sponged around the edges, too.

Well, what do you think?

The Small Print (All Stampin' Up)
